This is an upcycled Velocloud 510 firewall running a fresh install of pfSense 2.7.2-RELEASE (CE). While it looks similar to a pfSense Netgate SG-3100, please note that this is NOT an official Netgate device.
Powered by an Intel® Atom™ C2358 CPU @ 1.74GHz with 4GB RAM, this unit features AES-NI CPU Crypto capabilities (AES-CBC, AES-CCM, AES-GCM, AES-ICM, AES-XTS) when enabled in the software.
This device is fully functional, fanless for silent operation, and includes four (4) Gigabit Ethernet ports:
- Port 1 (WAN)
- Port 2 (LAN)
- Port 3 (OPT1)
- Port 4 (OPT2)
Storage & Expansion:
- 5GB onboard disk
- 2 USB ports for possible external storage
- Options on motherboard for expansion
- Disk upgrades may be possible but have not been tested
Wireless Capability (⚠️ READ BEFORE BUYING):
This Velocloud unit has a built-in wireless adapter, but it has NOT been tested or configured.
- Setting up wireless may not be possible or may require additional drivers and research.
- Do not purchase if you are expecting wireless functionality out of the box.
OS & Installation Notes:
- pfSense 2.7.2-RELEASE (CE) is pre-installed
- This device can also run OPNsense, but reinstalling or switching OS can be tricky and requires research
