A GENUINE PIECE OF COMPUTING HISTORY — TOSHIBA T1100 PLUS (1986)
Up for sale is a vintage Toshiba T1100 PLUS portable personal computer — a direct descendant of the Toshiba T1100, which Toshiba and the IEEE both officially recognize as \"the world\'s first mass-market laptop computer\" (released April 1985). The T1100 line laid the blueprint for every clamshell laptop that came after it and earned an IEEE Milestone designation for its pioneering contribution to portable computing.
This is the T1100 PLUS — the 1986 follow-up model that improved on the original with a faster 16-bit Intel 80C86 CPU (7.16 MHz / 4.77 MHz selectable), up to 640 KB of RAM, and two internal 720 KB 3.5\" floppy disk drives instead of one. It originally retailed for $1,899 in 1986 (roughly $5,500 in today\'s dollars).

Finding a T1100 PLUS at all is uncommon. Finding one with the matching original bag, original Toshiba adapter, AND the original user\'s manual is genuinely rare — most surviving examples are missing at least one of these pieces.
CONDITION
See the Condition Description above for full details. Cosmetic wear is consistent with a 40-year-old machine (yellowing, light scratches). Unit powers on — Power LED, Disk LED, Low Battery LED, and screen backlight all illuminate — but I was not able to confirm a successful boot to the screen, so I am listing this AS-IS for a knowledgeable buyer.

WHY I\'M SELLING
I bought this years ago to keep as a collectible because I\'d heard the T1100 was the world\'s first laptop. After holding onto it for five years, I\'d rather it go to someone in the vintage computing community who\'ll actually appreciate it and possibly restore it.
