For in-house routing this unit is a beast, the USB and large volume of 10/100 ports leaves lots of room for expansion. As with most routers, the 5GHz band on this unit is very lacking and connectivity becomes spotty through a trivial amount of internal walls (at least trivial for a router claiming 4,000sqft of coverage.) One nice feature of this my other routers have not handled well, devices on the 2.4GHz band are able to cast to Chromecast devices on the 5GHz band without issue even though the network names differed (suffixed "2.4" and "5"), where on previous routers traffic was segmented per band. I have ordered two of these units now, the first came with a broken antenna and the one I am using now has one loose antenna somehow, meaning over time if angled the antenna will start to droop. Long story short, this unit is a beast and performs well. It still suffers from performance issues on the 5GHz band in my home with lathe and plaster which is disappointing, but the available ports for connectivity and hardware features outweigh the cons in my opinion.Read full review

If all you need is a basic wireless router, this model is great. the radio is strong and gives me coverage throughout the house. Throughput is great, and setup is easy. Current pricing makes this a very strong price/performer. However, If you need any kind of advanced setup, this is not the model/series for you. I wanted all the devices on my LAN and wifi to share the same subnet. The only way to do this is to put the router in bridge mode. However, bridge mode does not support any of the advanced features of the router :(. What's even weirder is that some of the advanced features still work in bridge mode, but there is no way to configure them, or turn them on/off, in bridge mode. it's very inconvenient to say the least. I wish I had known this before purchasing, I would have bought something else. Furthermore, Linksys has locked down the firmware so there is no way to install an alternate firmware such as DD-WRT. In the end I'm keeping it for the strong radio performance, but looking forward to the day Linksys comes out with better firmware...or someone figures out how to get DD-WRT working on this device.Read full review

This has got to be the best router I have owned, brought up signal strength form my old ASUS router to almost double the signal strength,Online configuration was easy and managing has never been easier. Love the speed test feature.

The only con I can think of is that this routed is listed as an end-of-life product on the Linksys webpage, so it may not receive firmware updates (I don't know this for sure).

Former owner of a Netgear Nighthawk R7000. We just couldn't deal with the constant reset of the router everyday and sometimes multiple times in a day. I switched and went to LINKSYS. I just plugged this beast in and connected instantly. It does get a little complex when you go to the networking menu; but if one was in to gaming and knows how to set their own preferences and advance features; one should have no problem handling it. Its a awesome router; its a beast and we love it; especially in a house with so many devices
