The Cisco Catalyst 2950G-24 is a member of the Catalyst 2950 Series Intelligent Ethernet Switches from Cisco Systems. This model is a 25-port, rack-mountable switch with a fixed-configuration that provides wire-speed Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. The 2950G-24 is an affordable product line that makes an excellent choice for mid-sized networks and the metro access edge. The Cisco Catalyst 2950G-24 brings intelligent services, enhanced security, high availability, and advanced quality of service (QoS) to the network edge. With all of its technological advances, this Cisco Systems model switch still manages to maintain the simplicity of a traditional LAN switching system. When paired with the Catalyst 3550 series switch, the Catalyst 2950 switch can enable IP routing from the edge to the core of any network. Cisco Systems model switches not only provide superior hardware but they also come with amazing software such as the Cisco Network Assistant, a free centralized management application that will simplify the task of administration to Cisco switches, routers, and wireless access points. This software offers a user-friendly GUI interface that will allow you to easily configure, troubleshoot, enable, and monitor your network, freeing up your time and head space for other important business activities. Features of the Cisco Catalyst 2950G-24 include 24 10/100 ports and two fixed GBIC-based 1000BASE-X uplink ports. The rack unit is stackable for increased functionality and future expandability. The Cisco Catalyst delivers intelligent services to the network edge with enhanced software image installed. This switch is ideal for advanced desktop access layer connectivity and residential metro access. With a 100 Mbps data transfer rate over Fast Ethernet data link protocols, you will never be slowed down by the speed and capabilities of your switch. The Cisco Catalyst 2950G-24 has full duplex capability and trunking. LED lights on the switch hardware itself show port status, link activity, collision status, and also that power is flowing to the unit. The Cisco Catalyst 2950G-24 is a wired, full-duplex, stackable, rack-mounted switch. Remote mangement protocols include RMON, SNMP, and Telnet. Interfaces on this unit include management RS-232, RJ-45, 24 network interfaces for Ethernet 10Base-T/100 Base-TX, and RJ-45. The power source is a standard AC 120/230 V (50/60Hz), and the power supply is internal to the hardware itself. The power consumption for normal operation of the switch is 45 watts. Internal memory features 8MB of flash memory and 16MB of SDRAM RAM memory. The dimensions of the switch are 17.52 inches wide by 1.73 inches high by 12.99 inches deep, with a weight clocking in at 9.92 pounds.
