I bought this unit to rep[lace the Linksys WRT54G router that died after 8 years of reliable service. I wanted to stay with a Linksys unit due to my experience with their hardware over the years, and I wanted to upgrade to the wireless N standard, so this unit fit my requirements. It is being used as an access point for my home network and I have no complaints about it's performance so far. Setup is a snap, it's virtually plug and play to get it up and running and my linksys usb network adapters connected by pressing two buttons. One caveat, I could not log on to the on-board configuration using Firefox but Internet Explorer opens it just fine, still waiting to hear from Linksys support about whether it was my computers configuration or a firmware glitch causing it. It is a low profile unit, with no external antennas, and soft blue status lights in a glossy black faceplate that give it a modern look. Range is great, more than double the range of the unit it replaced. It comes with a seven day trial version of Network Magic 5.5.5195, but their is no discount on a license if you want to buy it, which Cisco could have been nice enough to offer since they bought Pure Networks and own the rights to Network Magic now. The price was right at around $35.00, making it an excellent value too. By the way, I gave it only 4 out of five stars for reliability because I have not been using it long enough to find out how reliable it is going to be, but if my experience with Linksys products is any indication of how reliable it will be, it could very well deserve 5 stars. All in all, I'm happy with this product and can recommend it to anyone who is setting up, or upgrading their home network.Read full review
I have been using a linksys router for years now and a family member was in need of one so I recommended this one. Everything works great, I received my item when promised and overall am very pleased. If I may say one thing that was a problem and that is the easy set up disc that came with the router did not work, but fortunately for me my nephew is a computer geek and was able to set everything up without the use of the CD so in the end it all worked out, however if I had to totally rely on the set up CD I would not be using this router.
This was certainly worth it with a fair discount price. I set things up and it runs pretty well. There is extra software utilities that should help pin things down and make sure the connected nodes are authorized and something isn't transfering too much. I didn't use that software much though. There was a little trouble with network failures, and I'm not certain whether this caused the problems or my DSL router. When it's working, it doesn't slow me down any, so overall it is a fine product.
This product works great, period. It was easy installation, it performs great, and at an unbeatable price, you cant go wrong. Contents included an ethernet cable, a power adapter, an installation CD, and of course, the 4-port Wireless N Router. This product, is equally compareable, to higher priced same quality routers.
I have used the exact same model, That I bought around 2 years ago, and I have not had any problems, and the unit has worked Flawlessly. I did however have to call the tech support line and ask for support in order for me to get it installed. I have limited skills for operating a computer, and this was over my head for me to install on my own. The tech support was very helpful and walked me through the setup for wireless operation, and the unit has worked flawless since the install. Thanks Bubba W.
