The router is fast and it's easy to configure through the web interface. A plus is that it supports USB 3 connectivity to an external hard drive for an inexpensive NAS, which is also easy to configure. However, I suggest avoiding the versions of this router with a blue (instead of a yellow) stripe at the bottom. Those with the blue stripe were customized for Charter Communications, a Canadian ISP, and they will not accept firmware upgrades from Netgear itself. You will have to flash to dd-wrt and then to Netgear's upgraded firmware, and if you're going to go to that length, you may as well stay with dd-wrt. It is unknown to me whether Charter offers firmware upgrades for this router. The only other issues I have are minor for most users. This router doesn't have activity lights for the Ethernet ports. (I happen to like blinkylights.) The other is that Netgear has blocked telnet access into the router's operating system; there are ways around that, but if you want telnet access, you probably know enough to find the information. My only other quibble is that the current run of routers from many vendors look like they come from the planet Zorch. I'd prefer a rectangular box, but I'm old-fashioned.Read full review

Easy to install and configure. Works well (as a router) with all my wired and wifi devices, including wifi Roku and wired printers. Able to get about 120 Mb/sec download to wireless laptop on 5G band. Shared usb disk storage feature is a bummer. Firmware on my router is way out of date. Latest version of Windows 10 requires firmware with greater security than on my router to use shared disk. Although manufacturer claims to have implemented feature in newer version of firmware and I was able to download a newer version from web site, I was unable to get the router to download that software from my computer. I've seen this complaint in other reviews.

This particular Netgear R6300v2 Wireless AC1750 Router Dualband Gigabit is completely defective and electrical hazard. The ON indicator light does not respond when on/off button is pressed. When turning on unit panel-lights flicker and then disappear. But when looking into the side vent holes you can see an internal light glowing. There is a serious electrical safety hazard with unit due to unit heating and becoming very hot although there's no ON indicator light or any front panel-light lighting up.

It's ok because although it is touted as being a powerful router, it barely covers our relatively small home. For example, upstairs where the router is, speed can be 200 MB. Downstairs one room over it can be 60 MB. So if you need strong coverage, best look for a different solution. If you have a very small apartment, it should be fine.

This router is one of the few that works with Expressvpn. It's expensive in Europe but a lot cheaper in the US because it was provided by some ISPs, so high availability brings the price down offering excellent value. I have 6 other routers, also Netgear but different model. This router unlike all my others I can detect everywhere in my house with is Amazing, for the WiFi to stretch that far without any external antenna. It's very solid and though mine came with ISP software you can't directly update, you load openvrt then reload Netgeat software. This is simple being a popular model there are plenty of online resources.
