Works great, and some people have said it was bigger than they thought. I felt it was much smaller than what I thought and smaller than the router it is replacing which it taller, and much wider. I haven't had any problems with it. Although it seems you cant do the more advanced features that other routers do, which I don't mess with those settings, but still, it would be nice if they were there. I'm disappointed Apple doesn't make these anymore. I use all Apple products, so it's nice that no problems with everything working together nicely.

This Airport Extreme was overpriced for a used product (particularly as Apple has stopped making routers, but it works well as a wi-fi range extender and was easy to set-up using Apple's AIrport Utility app....It was better for me to try this rather than invest in an expensive, new mesh sytem.....I wonder how long Apple will continue to support the software associated with this product line.....

Though it is an over 8 year old design, the 802.11ac, now called WiFi 5, used in this router is still every bit up to date and still the standard today. These routers do have one issue and it involves a glitch making the router think it’s overheating, but toggle the ‘File Sharing’ setting makes it disappear permanently and it never fails to work. I purchased this unit recently to add as a base station to an existing router that is the same model number that I’ve had to eight years and it’s worked great!

This is the best router out there. Too bad Apple discontinued it. I am using this as the main router into my house. As seen in the picture, one of the 3 rear ports feeds a 16 port Gbit ethernet switch which goes to all the rooms in my house. The other 2 ports are used to feed directly to other Airport Extremes in the far ends of my house to extend the wifi network. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. I am currently seeing 950 Mbps speeds when hardlined to ethernet in my house and 130 Mbps over wifi.

This product is great. Most routers do not operate in the DFS range of 5 GHZ . This router does open up unused 5GHZ range. Giving you an unused channel if is not used by radar or any other use. It also has the other channels for use by WiFi not used for radar on any other use. The signal it gives off is very strong. More power on some channels and less power in the DFS range to prevent interference on radar channels. It has 3 antennas to beam the signal . It is fastest in the AC 5GHZ range and slowest in 2.4 ghz range. The 2.4 reaching longest range. The 5GHZ being fastest reaching but far less range. It was easy to set up.set it up on a IOS device or on a windows computers by down loading a program from the internet.up dating firm ware was easy .There were more settings to play then a normal router has. This give you more control over the router then a normal consumer router. Closer to a enterprise router. The appearance is pleasing. The router will pick the best band for the device connecting to it or you can set up the two bands as separate radios. It is not heavy. About a little over 2 pounds. Will work as a AP point or as a full router minus modem. Needs a modem has everything else. Will be supported by Apple for the next 5 years. Over all the Apple router is a good value.Read full review
