I bought this to use as an access point. I am very pleased with it as the coverage is great. I get the same download speeds if I am connected with a wired or WiFi connection. The coverage is double what my current router gave me and much faster.

It worked with a Netgear gateway but doesn't work with a Xfinity gateway. It is connected but you can't connect to it with any device after multiple resets and setups. Netqear support is unavailable unless you pay them $100 and even on a new $500 Orbi system the support was useless, three different Netgear gateways would not stay connected. Hours on the phone with the ISP and Netgear, and with a Xfinity service call, I never got the three gateways to work but renting a Xfinity modem it has worked flawlessly for months. Either Netgear is incompatible, or Xfinity screws them up so you have to rent their hardware.

Local new cable co. Put in new router said would cover every where and have a faster speed. Not so, so I purchased this to extend my area back to what I had before it took care of the problem.very happy with Nextgear ac1900.

I feel like this is the best extender out there. I was skeptical of the performance of a wireless extender because of all the mixed reviews out there about wireless extenders but I'm a believer in this one. Great speed and easily set up. Once I hooked this one up and configured it, which was very easy because I have a Netgear AC1900 wireless router, I checked the 5G speed all over the house and the speeds varied, but I was at 100MB+ in some areas and 75 to 85MB in others. It is much faster than it was and I am very pleased. It even has a FastLane Mode for video streaming that speeds it up even more. The only downfall is that the FastLane mode takes away your 2.4 GHz option which all of our Blu-Ray players require. I'm sure this feature will come in handy sometime down the road in the future. This wifi extender has definitely exceeded my expectations.Thanks.Read full review

I have several repeaters I have used for various purposes, extend the Ethernet port to TV, some for travel to hit a guest hot spot etc. For my security system I needed to hit a router at a distance through a few walls. The Netgear EX7000 extended the signal remarkably better than all the others I had tried before. Achieving download speeds greater than 50 Mbs, almost equal to the source router. I was so impressed I purchased a second one as a backup. Having used DD-WRT in the past to repurpose a router as a repeater, I now prefer to use the Netgear interface. It is simple, scans the available networks, and most importantly allows for a different SSID and password at the extended SSID output, which the TP Link does not. After you set it up, you then do the firmware update.
