Apple quality and a great performing WI-Fi router. The Extremes work as a primary wireless router, or as a range extender with typical Apple ease of installation and operation. This one is a range extender for my original 5th generation Airport Extreme that covers the entire house (3 stories of rebar reinforced concrete with over 3600 sq') I needed the extender because my shop building is about 100' from the house and thus was at the extreme limits of the primary Airport. Putting the new unit at the closest shop wall to the house allowed the two Airports to work together flawlessly. Normally you can expect a repeater to cut data transfer speeds in half, but since the devices used in the shop have slower data transfer speeds anyways, they deliver the same speeds when connected to either Airport. I notice no difference in connection speeds to the internet using the Airports, or ethernet cables and being able to connect numerous devices via Wi-Fi is much simpler and more efficient. The "LAN" ethernet port allows those devices that don't have wireless capabilities to be added as an ethernet cabled LAN and share everything equally with the wireless devices. I have an ethernet LAN in the shop connected to the "extender" and another in the house connected to the primary Airport. The USB port allows the connecting of any USB capable printer as a network printer for use by all devices. I have a second USB printer that I will be adding to the shop Airport and that will save the walk to and from the house when I need to print something for the shop.Read full review

At this time the 5th generation AirPort Extreme is not “new”, but it is still an excellent and capable 802.11n router. It is rock-solid, and one readily covers a large home. Apple continues to push out firmware updates for it. On the used market, they are extremely affordable. I recommend them.

Instead of buying an expensive router and centralizing it in the house. My friend talked me into buying four of these spread out throughout the house. They are older models so they cost about $20 each. My signal is awesome and overall less costly than an expensive centralized router that still had problems going through walls.

I got this just to run a simple wifi network for my wireless recording mixer. I'm using it with windows 10 "without internet access". I had to use my Mac to get it activated and running. The windows app for this router would not work. For wireless N it is a decent router for this use and much better than the mixers built in Wi-Fi.

I needed to extend my Apple wifi network. This device was easy to set up and integrate into my system. Instructions can be found on youtube.
