I am the original owner of this firewall/router which I purchased new online from Newegg (Inv# 153195828, 9-12-2017) for the purpose of learning FortiOS. I connected it to my home network but I never purchased the security subscriptions (antivirus, web filtering, etc.). After becoming acquainted with its operation,I fell in love with it and purchased two more for my clients. One client has had theirs running without a reboot for 305 days, serving about 250 remote users with antivirus and web filtering. This firewall worked fine in my home without the security subscriptions. Google \"Fortinet Product Matrix\" to compare its performance specifications to any of the leading firewalls in the same price category (SonicWall, CheckPoint, Cisco Meraki, Barracuda, Palo Alto, WatchGuard, etc.). You will discover that nothing comes close. The key to this firewall/router\'s performance is it has its own in-house developed ASIC \"System On a Chip\" (SOC). The ASIC chip uses only 5W so it doesn\'t need a fan to cool it like other firewalls of this caliber. I was so impressed with it that I bought $500 worth of Fortinet stock about 10 months ago. Had I known that their stock would have jumped from $35 to $76 per share in just 10 months, I would have purchased more. This firewall is designed in USA and manufactured in Taiwan.
I\'m selling it because I can\'t justify owning such an expensive router for my home and I no longer need it to study FortiOS since I can now do that from my customer\'s Fortigates. I upgraded it with the latest FortiOS firmware version 6.0.2 build 0163 and I reset it to factory default settings. When you power it up, you can access it from your web browser at http://192.168.1.99 and login as \"admin\" with no password.
